ABOUT SUGAR BAY BEACH, ST THOMAS
Sugar Bay Beach is located on the East End of St. Thomas and just a few minutes-drives from Red Hook. The beach is also easily accessible from St. John via ferries. The bay offers various activities that will make your day here memorable. Whether you are sailing, snorkeling, or kayaking fun, you will definitely find something that suits you. The beach used to be lively before the 2017 hurricanes. The hurricanes, though, destroyed the beach and the adjacent resort hotel, leaving the beach neglected. However, the beach has resumed its original state, and it is functioning. The water at the beach is calm, suitable for families with younger children. The beach also features soft white sand on the left side, perfect for children's play and sand bathing. There are also a variety of sea grape trees at the beach, making it more appealing.
SUGAR BAY BEACH, ST THOMAS AMENITIES
Beach amenities include paddleboats, swimming, bathrooms, umbrellas, parking, jet skis, beach chairs, kayaking, and snorkeling. The sandy left side of the bay is known for snorkeling since the other parts are rocky. However, to enjoy amazing snorkeling, consider the rocky center-right of the bay. You will also not fail to see juvenile fish on the rocky seafloor. All you have to do is to hire snorkels. Even though the beach looks deserted after the nearby resort's closure, you will not go hungry as food vendors are available. There is no entrance fee; however, you must first check-in with the duty guard for security purposes.
